TeamKayla of Louisiana event is a cake bingo at the WOW in Abbeville on Sept.14, 2008 along with door prizes, an auction and raffle. Doors open at 1pm, bingo starts at 2pm. All proceeds will go to the Kayla Weber Believe Foundation whose Mission is raising awareness and education of childhood cancers while funding research that will bring treatments to a new level! The foundation is a non-profit corporation.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s 2nd Annual “Out of the Darkness” Community Walk Saturday, September 20, 2008 Parc Sans Souci, downtown Lafayette 8am – registration & music begins
9am – opening ceremony, hosted by JayCee
9:30am – walk begins
10:30am – walk ends, music begins.
Last year we were able to raise over $22,000 due to your generosity. BUT, more than money, this is about awareness and bringing this problem to the forefront, giving people a place to turn, enabling survivors to better cope with their loss by bonding with other survivors, and hopefully prevent another loss to suicide.

Family Adventure Day

Healing House will be hosting its first ever Family Adventure Day on October 18, 2008. Our goal for this special event is to encourage families to spend the day together and support local businesses. The event will include unique and fun activities at different venues all over Acadiana and will end at the UL game that evening. Families will have the opportunity to win a grand prize of $3500 worth of products and services from all over Acadiana. The Healing House offers support groups and activities for children who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. For them, it is a safe place to grieve and it is free of charge for their families. The proceeds for this event will help support the much needed programs offered by the Healing House to children of all ages in our area. For more information contact Emily at Healing House
