Continuing Education for Hip Hop:
Although it's not a recent trend, noticeably more artists are spelling out how they feel. Sure, it sounds cool, but it also serves a purpose. I can't imagine how many kids learned how to spell Bananas from Gwen Stefani. Maybe educational institutions should take a cue from the Hip Hop industry and incorporate music in the learning process. It may make American History or Accounting easier to learn.
Here's a few examples of spelling in recent music history:
- G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S (Fergie)
- F-E-R-G-I-E (Fergie, again)
- T-A-S-T-E-Y? (not in the dictionary..thanks Will I Am)
- D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S (you guessed it, Fergie and Will I Am again)
- I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T (Webbie)
- B-O-O-S-I-E-B-A-D-A-Z-Z (that's me...I mean Boosie)
- D-A-M-A-G-E-D (Danity Kane, heard that one the other day)
- H-E-A-R-T (Danity Kane again, same song)
- C-A-N-T, J-U-S-T, G-A-M-E-S, F-E-E-L-I-N-G (Menudo 'More Than Words')[thanks to schexnayderh)
- R-E-S-P-E-C-T (Aretha, of course..thanks for the old school, Robin!)
I know there's a ton more, so if you think of any to add to the list, just e-mail me at dave@1079ishot.com.
